In a moment of madness, perhaps clarity - maybe even drunkenness - a fascinating look at the purpose of life was presented to me. I wrote automatically these thoughts. Then I accidentally deleted them. Perhaps it was a dream but I must try to replicate the understanding that I was blessed with.
The deeper meaning to balloon animals. Consider the balloon as a representation of life. A chromosome. Let's enlarge it by inflating. You now hold in your hand the means to construct a life form. The genes which litter a chromosome translate as the bubbles you manufacture. They give the animal its characteristic shape and destiny. Of course the genome is constructed along two chromosomes, helically shaped and connected with rungs. Only one chromosome dictates the final animal. There are two in order that they can replicate. We will work with one.
So. is the man mad? Is he reading too much into this simple analogy? Well of course he is - oh -
NO! STOP!
You hold a potential life form in your hand. Take care and transform it as you will - and when finished you will hold a living entity. Who says otherwise? The animal will survive and then die. Pretend not that it is a toy. Allow it the dignity of existence.
When you make your animal it may not be perfect. An ear may deflate or pop. The animal may thus be deaf in part. Repair it! Blow up another balloon and make a bubble the same size as the faulty one was. Snip it off and replace the faulty one, stretching the knots at either end around their new ss, attaching them in the right place. Thus are impairments confounded! A broken leg is healed. Miracles can be performed - but only if necessary. None of us are perfect (though I am pretty close to it, I feel) and our deformities, petty or otherwise, are what differentiate us. We are not made from moulds, after all!
You really ought to practise in the right environment.
This just happens to be in my gite in Calvados, Normandy (France) just 45 minutes from ferries.
